Are there any stores where I can try a Plushbeds all natural latex mattress?
Plushbeds is manufacturer-direct / factory-direct only, which is why we can offer the pricing that we do. If our mattresses were in retail stores, they would sell for 50%-70% more for a solid mattress made of pure 100% natural latex. Because you're buying direct from the manufacturer, you're cutting out the middle man, retail markups, etc. You're getting more mattress for your money!
So you actually make a mattress for me? You don't just sent out a ready-made product?
Each natural latex mattress is handmade in our California production facility as orders are received. This is why we can offer so many different firmness options. While we offer a standard selection of our 4 most popular firmness options, we can accommodate virtually any firmness request. By contract, most online companies are resellers and only offer ready-made mattresses their manufacturers' provide to them.
Does the Plushbeds latex mattress arrive assembled, or will it come in layers that will need to be constructed?
Most PlushBeds latex mattress arrives fully assembled. On certain larger mattresses, where the total weight of the mattress exceeds 150 lbs, your mattress will be specially packaged in 2 boxes for your safety; The organic cotton cover + mattress foundation are in one box, and your latex comfort layer (or layers) in the second. The organic cotton mattress cover will arrive partially unzipped for ease of use in adding the latex comfort layer to your mattress. Complete instructions will be included in your shipment. This is a simple process which requires slightly more effort than making your bed. Our special packaging also makes it easier to bring your mattress to the room of your choice.
What is the difference between your medium and medium-firm latex mattresses?
Our Botanical Bliss mattresses come in four firmness levels to satisfy a wide range of sleep preferences. Soft, Medium, Medium-Firm, and Extra-Firm options suit every body type from the sensitive side-sleeper who needs pressure-point relief to the back-sleeper who loves the feel of a firm, supportive bed.
Rule of thumb, even if you are partially a side sleeper, our medium will provide better pressure relief in your hip and shoulder areas. If you prefer a firmer mattress and only sleep on your stomach or back, our medium-firm will provide the additional support you are looking for.
What's the difference between your 9", 10", and 12" Botanical Bliss models?
The difference between our 9", 10" and 12" Botanical Bliss models varies, depending on the firmness you choose. Each mattress has its own unique attributes. Whatever your body type or sleep preferences are, we can help you find the bed that will help you sleep better than ever before.
SOFT / MEDIUM:
The taller the mattress, the more soft talalay latex is used in the top comfort layer. Our 9 inch model is topped with a 2 inch comfort layer; our 10 inch option with a 3 inch comfort layer, and the 12 inch model with a luxurious 5 inch comfort layer (a 2 inch over a 3 inch comfort layer).
In our Soft and Medium models, the thicker talalay on the 10 and 12 inch models gives these mattresses a softer, plush feel, preferable if you're a side sleeper or prefer a softer mattress. The 9 inch model, on the other hand, is ideal for side sleepers who need a little more support without sacrificing comfort.
MEDIUM FIRM / EXTRA FIRM:
In our Medium Firm and Extra Firm models, all three thicknesses have a similar feel since firmer latex is used in the comfort layer on all three models. Instead of sleep style, body weight becomes the deciding factor when choosing a firm mattress, since the amount of firm latex needed in the comfort layer will depend on the amount of weight pressing against it.
We recommend using the following guide in selecting your medium-firm or extra-firm models:
|9 inch model ||Ideal for those who weigh ||up to 225 lbs|
|10 inch model ||Ideal for those who weigh ||up to 275 lbs|
|12 inch model ||Ideal for those who weigh ||up to or over 275 lbs|
When you combine the hypo-allergenic, temperature regulating, and eco-friendly characteristics of latex foam with the unmatchable comfort and buoyant support of our carefully engineered Botanical Bliss line, it becomes obvious that any of our 3 models (9", 10" or 12") would be a wonderful addition to your bedroom. Remember, our 100-night comfort exchange policy allows you to find the Botanical Bliss comfort that's just right for you, even after it has been delivered.
Does Plushbeds use any materials to reduce or eliminate off-gassing?
There's no off-gassing in our 100% natural latex, so no odors are present.
Do Plushbeds' latex mattresses need to be flipped on a regular or occasional basis?
Flipping is not necessary, however for customers who prefer to flip or rotate their mattress every 6 months, our mattress covers have a zipper and the top of the mattress cover is easily-removable for easy access to rotate or flip the layers on natural latex underneath.
Is it possible to order a Botanical Bliss latex mattress with a different firmness on each side of the bed?
Yes, on queen and king size mattresses, we can customize each side of your mattress with a different firmness. Please call 1-888-449-5738 and any one of our mattress specialists can assist you in customizing your order.
I heard natural latex mattresses are very heavy. How much do your mattresses weigh?
Yes, due to the dense cell structure of 100% natural latex, your mattress will be heavier than a traditional mattress. This should be looked at as a characteristic of its quality vs. a hindrance, similar to a solid wood dining room table as compared to a lighter, particle board piece of furniture. While it may be heavier, you most likely won't be moving it many times after bringing it into your home.
With that said however, you should make necessary arrangements on the delivery date for bringing your new mattress to your bedroom if you select free ground shipping; or if you prefer you can select a white glove delivery for $299 on our checkout page, and our private carriers will bring your new mattress to the room of your choice and unpack it for you.
The weight of your mattress will vary based on the firmness you order. The weight ranges are below:
|Size ||Dimensions ||9" Botanical Bliss ||10" Botanical Bliss ||12" Botanical Bliss|
|Twin ||38" x 75" ||60 LBS ||75 LBS ||100 LBS|
|Twin XL ||38" x 80" ||65 LBS ||80 LBS ||105 LBS|
|Full ||54" x 75" ||95 LBS ||115 LBS ||145 LBS|
|Queen ||60" x 80" ||105 LBS ||130 LBS ||170 LBS|
|King ||76" x 80" ||130 LBS ||155 LBS ||195 LBS|
|Cal King ||72" x 84" ||130 LBS ||155 LBS ||195 LBS|
Would one be able to tell much of a difference between 100% natural vs. blended Talalay latex?
Absolutely. Natural latex is much more resilient and better for pressure relief because it is extremely elastic. Blended latex has more of a couch foam feel to it and does not have the same resilience as 100% natural latex. For this same reason, blended latex mattresses sold in stores typically will have a much higher firmness level (higher ILD) to compensate for the lack of resilience or "springiness" that 100% natural latex provides. While this may compensate for support, the higher ILD does not have the same pressure-relieving qualities. Only 100% natural latex has the unique characteristic of simultaneous pressure relief and contouring support. Due to the high cost of the raw materials, solid 100% natural latex mattresses are typically not sold in retail stores.
Which is better, talalay latex or dunlop latex?
The relevant question is not as much about which is better as it is about where and how it's being used in the mattress. When latex is derived from the hevea brasiliensis tree, it has the consistency of maple syrup. There are 2 primary processes used to transform it to the latex foam used in mattresses; the talalay process and the dunlop process.
To spare you the technical details, the dunlop process produces a latex foam that is more dense, while the talalay process produces a latex foam that is lighter and has more air in it. If we use cake as an analogy, dunlop would be like pound cake and talalay would be like angel food cake. If you were to weigh each as latex cores, the dunlop would be heaver because it has more latex in it.
As a top comfort layer of a mattress, talalay is typically preferred because it is less dense which provides better pressure relief. As a mattress core however, dunlop is preferred because it's dense cell structure will hold the shape of the mattress better over time & will be less prone to sagging or indentations.
Do the Plushbeds mattress specialists work on commission?
No, our mattress specialists are not paid on commission, so you'll never experience a "hard sell". Our mattress specialists pay careful attention to your questions and requests, guiding you through the process of finding the mattress that is best for you on a budget that you can afford. Feel free to reach any of our mattress specialists from 9am-9pm EST, 7 days a week by calling 1-888-449-5738.
A competitor, Company X, claims that unglued layers bunch up over time or shift. Is this correct?
Company X is most likely not the manufacturer, but a reseller. If so, their only option is to glue it, which is why they market "layers shifting". Natural latex is naturally abrasive (the layers grab each other) and does not shift. Plushbeds has done extensive testing on this, and you would need to hold your mattress up to a 90 degree angle before seeing any movement at all. Further, a huge disadvantage to glued layers is that if your mattress is too firm or too soft, your only option is to return the whole mattress (instead of simply switching out a layer).
I have looked at many, many mattresses; what sets yours apart from most others?
Please click on the "10 Reasons to Buy" button at the top of the page just below the mattress image, or visit our comparisons tab for a detailed explanation on what separates the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss from the competition.
Of the 3 thicknesses you offer, the 9", 10", and 12" latex mattresses, which is the most popular?
Approximately 40% of our customers choose the 9", 40% choose the 10", and 20% choose the 12".
How does latex compare to memory foam?
Memory foam and latex may seem similar at first glance, both are responsive foam bedding options designed to support your body without the use of traditional inner springs. But look more closely: latex gets the green seal of approval, sleeps cooler, is more responsive to your movements, and lasts longer.
A latex mattress is constructed using sustainably harvested liquid latex that's produced naturally by the rubber tree, Hevea brasiliensis. When combined with an organic cotton cover, natural latex is one of the most eco-friendly bedding options on the market today. Memory foam has a cellular structure that holds heat and responds slowly to changes in pressure. Most people find that memory foam "sleeps hot" and offers a sinking sensation similar to sleeping in quicksand. Latex, by contrast, is constructed with an open cellular structure that encourages air flow. The natural resilient "bounce" of rubber allows latex to respond quickly and gently to your every move - and can last up to 20 years or more.
Is there motion transfer with latex?
Latex mattresses have far less motion transfer than traditional innerspring mattresses. An all-natural latex bed gives under your weight and shifts back to its original position when you move, but the motion is localized. The cells beneath your body compress and expand individually. A quality latex mattress on a quality mattress foundation can give you most still, peaceful sleep you've ever had.
I've never slept of latex, how does it feel?
The resilient feel of latex is one of the most delectable in the mattress industry. Its unique customizability makes it ideal for a wide range of sleepers. Whether you are a stomach sleeper who likes a firm mattress or a side sleeper who wants to sink into your bed, you'll find the unique responsiveness of latex to be a gently supportive bedding alternative that relieves pressure and aligns your spine-so you sleep deeply and wake refreshed.
Are your mattresses made in the USA?
Yes, all of our latex mattresses are handmade by our skilled craftsmen as orders are received in our California production facility.
How long is a latex mattress expected to last?
Some of the first 100% natural latex mattresses sold in the US were sold by Sears in the early 1950s. While Sears no longer sells them, many of their customers reportedly still had them 30+ years later, looking as good as they did when they first bought them. 100% natural latex mattresses are very durable and should last 20-25 years, although it's typically recommended to replace your mattress every 8-10 years.
Can I use an electric blanket?
Yes, you can use an electric blanket with your latex mattress. In general, you should not apply extreme heat directly to natural latex, however your latex mattress is protected with an organic cotton cover which will protect the latex.
Is it safe for my kids and pets?
Natural Latex is one of the safest, purest mattresses you can sleep on. It is naturally resilient for support, yet offers optimal pressure relief at the same time. It is hypoallergenic, dust mite resistant, mildew and mold resistant, odor free, extremely durable and is not manufactured with any harsh chemicals. With that said, if you plan on having children or pets sleep on your new latex mattress, we recommend purchasing a waterproof mattress protector, which will protect your mattress in the event of any accidents.
Why don't you glue your layers?
Initially, we did glue our layers under the assumption that unglued layers would shift. Some customers would receive their mattress and wanted it to be softer or firmer. While they would have enjoyed the mattress in a different firmness, their only option was to return the whole mattress as the layers were glued together and couldn't be changed.
Additionally, customer feedback showed us one of the primary reasons customers choose a natural latex mattress is because of the purity and lack of harsh chemicals. We felt using as many as 4 cups of glue in each mattress (the amount needed to glue a queen size mattress) did not align with our customers' values, and began our research to build a healthier mattress.
After extensive testing, we found 100% natural latex is naturally abrasive, and the layers "grab" each other, which prevents shifting. In fact, you would need to hold your mattress up to a 90 degree angle before seeing any movement at all. Further, a huge advantage to non-glued layers (both immediately when you receive your mattress or years down the road if your comfort needs change) is that if your mattress is too firm or too soft, you can simply exchange a layer of latex to a firmness of your liking vs. returning the whole mattress. With our 100 night comfort guarantee, this can be done with just a flat rate $45 shipping fee.
Why are your latex mattresses less expensive than others?
Many online companies boast "factory direct', yet are simply resellers who are buying your mattress from a manufacturer, adding their markups, and having it shipped from the manufacturer directly to you. By contrast, PlushBeds is the manufacturer. Because you are buying directly from the manufacturer and there is not another retailer or reseller in the food chain, we can use higher quality materials and still offer a better price than most competitors without cutting corners on quality. Remember, there are 100 ways to cut corners in the manufacturing process to make a mattress "cheaper". There will always be a "cheaper" mattress out there, however our objective has never been to be the cheapest. Our objective has always been to make extremely high quality mattresses we are proud of, and mattresses our customers love. We can confidently say PlushBeds offers the best quality and best value for your money.

100 NIGHT COMFORT GUARANTEE:
Please explain how your 100 Night Comfort Guarantee works?
Did you just receive your mattress and it's slightly softer or firmer than you'd like? Just give us a call to exercise your 100 night comfort guarantee. For a flat shipping fee of $45 + a $100 deposit, we'll send you a new top layer of 100% natural latex of a different firmness, based ion your initial feedback. Simply unzip the top of your cover and replace the old top layer with the new. We'll send you a shipping label to return the old label, and once it's received, we'll refund your $100 deposit.
Will replacing just the top layer really make a big enough difference? Do all of your mattresses have the same latex core?
Yes, a top comfort layer exchange resolves comfort issues 90% of the time. Not every mattress has the same core, but in our experience, most comfort issues can be solved with a top layer exchange as they are just a little off, for example, someone orders a medium then decides they'd prefer a medium-firm. If someone enjoys a very soft mattress, they probably won't be ordering an extra-firm.
What happens to the returned layers? Are they re-used?
Absolutely not. They are sent to our 3rd party liquidators. Unlike other companies, PlushBeds will only send 100% new products to our customers 100% of the time.
100 NIGHT RETURN POLICY:
What is your 100-day return policy?
From the day your mattress is delivered, you have 100 days to fall in love with it. Because sleeping on natural latex has a different feel than most traditional mattresses, we ask that you give your body 30 days to adjust. After the first 30 days, if you don't fall in love with your new latex mattress for any reason, just call us to arrange a return and box the mattress for shipping. We'll send a private carrier for a curbside mattress pickup, who will ship the mattress back to us. We'll pay for all the round trip shipping costs and you will receive a full refund, minus a flat $99 return fee. Additionally, any pillows or bonuses you received with your mattress are yours to keep.
Please note that our 100 night return policy applies to our full collection of latex mattresses; foundations, additional toppers, or accessories purchased with your mattress are not returnable as these are universal items that can be used with any mattress.
Can you give me an example of how much I would receive back, should I need to return my mattress?
Let's say you purchase one of our latex mattresses for $2,399. It's delivered and even after 2-3 months, you decide that natural latex is just not for you (this happens less than 2% of the time). Simply call us to arrange a return and package the mattress for shipping. We'll send a private carrier for a curbside mattress pickup, who will ship the mattress back to us. Once it's received, you'll receive a refund of $2,300 ($2,399 minus a flat $99 return fee) and the latex pillows you received with your mattress are yours to keep. Refunds are typically issued within 7 days from the date we receive your mattress and are refunded to the same original payment source.
Will any additional "use" or "damage" charges be deducted from my refund?
Unlike several other online mattress companies who boast free or cheap returns, then customarily deduct damage or excessive use fees to cover shipping costs, PlushBeds offers a solid return policy with no tricks or games. We hope you love your latex mattress as most of our customers do, however, even if natural latex is not for you, we still want you to feel good about your experience with our company. Of course, there are always rare exceptions to this rule if a mattress comes back destroyed or in a condition where even our 3rd party liquidators reject it, which only happens once or twice a year. The last one, for example, was a mattress returned to us completely cut in half by a customer trying to fit it into his boat who miscalculated his dimensions. In extreme situations such as these, we feel a damage fee would be appropriate.
What do you do with returned mattresses?
Our returned mattresses are sent to our 3rd party liquidators and are never resold; the latex is either recycled or ground up and used in carpet padding.
Plushbeds is a reputable and ethical company with great independent reviews and a solid BBB rating. Unlike other online companies, we follow the law, which clearly states that it is unlawful to resell a returned mattress as new.
25 YEAR MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY:
What are the important features of your 25 year manufacturer's warranty?
Our 25 year manufacturer's warranty protects you from manufacturer's defects and excessive body impressions or sagging greater than 1.5" over a 25 year period. Every warranty begins the day your mattress is delivered, and provides full replacement in years 1-10, and pro-rated replacement in years 11-25.
Do I have to buy your foundation for the warranty to be valid?
No, however the mattress does have to be on a completely flat surface to validate the warranty. In several warranty inquires, we found customers were placing their latex mattress on an old box spring (+7-10 years old), which began to sag due to the weight of the mattress.
How does your warranty compare to the warranty of your competitors?
Most of our online competitors are resellers and are offering their own warranty, not the warranty from the mattress manufacturer, who typically warranties the mattress for a shorter time period. You should ask for a copy of both warranties, as if the reseller is out of business in the future, it's the manufacturer's warranty you are left with.
Does Plushbeds offer financing?
Yes, through our relationship with PayPal, we provide their Bill Me Later financing offer, subject to credit approval, which offers no payments + no interest on your order if paid in full within 6 months. To take advantage of this financing offer, simply select Bill Me Later as your payment option on our checkout page.
BOX SPRINGS/ORTHOPEDIC FOUNDATION:
What's the difference between a box spring & your Orthopedic Foundation?
Box springs are typically designed to hold lighter, traditional mattresses. Natural latex mattresses are heavier and require more support. Our orthopedic foundations are built from select woods for their strength. Additionally, the slatted structure of the orthopedic foundation provides better breathability for the latex.
Can I use the box springs I currently have for my latex mattress?
The best way to determine if your current box spring still offers support is to give it a knee test. Place your knee as close to the center as you can and apply pressure. If it sinks less than 2 inches, you might be ok; if it sinks 3+ inches, it should be replaced.
Another consideration is whether you purchased your box spring prior to 2007. In 2007, the CPSC enacted stricter flammability laws (CFR 1633) which all mattresses and box springs are required to pass. Box springs purchased prior to 2007 may not pass current flammability laws and could present a higher risk.
What's the height of your foundation?
Our Orthopedic Foundation is 8" high. Most customers place the Orthopedic Foundation into a metal bed frame, which traditionally is 6" high. If you need to order a metal bed frame, please call 1-888-449-5738 and any one of our mattress specialists can assist you.
Is the king size foundation one piece or two pieces?
Our king size orthopedic foundation is 1 piece that measures 76" x 80" x 8". If you require a 2 piece foundation, please select the split king foundation from the foundations drop down box, which is two pieces, 38" x 80" x 8" each.
Does your foundation come unassembled? Is it easy to assemble?
Our orthopedic foundation comes unassembled and is very easy to assemble. Using a patented construction process, no additional tools are necessary; you simply connect the pieces per the instructions. Once assembled, it can support weights up to 600lbs. It can also be unassembled just as easily for moving, etc.
What size box does your foundation ship in?
Our orthopedic foundation comes unassembled in a box which measures 12" x 12" x 82" and weighs approximately 45lbs.
ADJUSTABLE BEDS / ADJUSTABLE FOUNDATIONS:
I have an adjustable foundation already, will latex work with it?
Absolutely, because of its elastic characteristics, a latex mattress is superior to any other mattress for performance on an adjustable bed. Just be sure to measure the surface of your adjustable bed and order the right size mattress to match.
What is the Weight / Height of your Adjustable Foundation?
Our adjustable foundation has legs and removable casters (wheels) that go all the way to the floor. The height for the foundation is as follows:
|15.75" ||Foundation with legs & casters|
|13.75" ||Foundation with legs only (casters removed)|
|9" ||Foundation only (legs & casters removed)|
The foundation is fully functional with or without legs. Just add the height of the mattress to whichever option above best fits your needs to determine the total height.
The weight of our adjustable foundation varies by size, the weights for each size are listed below:
|Twin: ||168 LBS|
|Twin XL: ||172 LBS|
|Full: ||219 LBS|
|Queen: ||234 LBS|
|King: ||(2 X 172) 344 LBS|
|Cal King: ||(2 X 164) 328 LBS|
What is the maximum weight capacity of your adjustable foundation?
The recommended weight restrictions on our full motion bases are as follows:
|Twin: ||300 LBS|
|Twin XL: ||300 LBS|
|Full: ||375 LBS|
|Queen: ||425 LBS|
|King: ||550 LBS|
|Cal King: ||550 LBS|
This full motion base will structurally support the recommended weight distributed evenly across the head and foot sections. This product is not designed to support or lift this amount of weight in the head or foot sections alone.
How high will the head/feel lift up?
|Head: ||Raises to a full 70 Degrees|
|Feet: ||Raises to a full 47 Degrees|
Are Adjustable Beds safe for people with pacemakers?
As with any product that produces a vibrating motion (optional), it is possible that some pacemakers may interpret this motion as a false sense of movement and/or exercise. This may or may not affect your pacemaker. If you have any concerns, please consult your physician. For information on disabling the vibrating motors, please contact customer service by calling 1-888-449-5738.
How is the adjustable foundation shipped/delivered?
Due to their weight, our adjustable beds are shipped separately by private carrier from several different warehouses across the country, depending on your location. We typically aim to have both your mattress and adjustable foundation arrive on approximately the same day, shipping schedules permitting.
If you select our free ground shipping, a private carrier will deliver your adjustable foundation to your house. Due to the weight of the foundation, it is recommended that you make necessary arrangements for assistance to bring the foundation to the room of your choice. The foundation comes fully assembled in the box, just the legs need to be screwed on.
If you select a white glove delivery option ($299) on the checkout page, our white glove service will bring both your mattress and adjustable foundation to your house, into the room of your choice, and will set up your complete bed including the syncing of your remotes, and will remove all packing materials.
What's the difference between a king and a split king?
All king and California king adjustable foundations are 2 separate units positioned side by side. No manufacturer makes a single king size unit as it would be too large to fit inside most people's bedrooms.
On a regular king model (76" x 80") or California king model (72" x 84"), both units are positioned side by side, and the frequencies are synced together (similar to a garage door opener) so the head and feet on both sides go up and down simultaneously. This is used when a regular king or California king mattress is placed on top.
On a split king model or split California king model, both units are positioned side by side, and each side operates independently on different frequencies. This is used when a split king mattress (2 twin XLs) is placed on top, so each side can go up and down independently of the other side.
Both styles come with 2 wireless remotes. The main difference being that with the regular king or California king, each remote controls the whole bed, and with the split king model, each remote only controls one side of the bed.
In addition to your adjustable foundation, are other models available as well?
Yes, we offer an extremely high quality adjustable foundation at a very affordable price, however we are also authorized dealers of all major adjustable bed manufacturers and can source most models on the market. If you have a particular adjustable foundation model in mind, please call 1-888-449-5738 and any one of our mattress specialists can provide you with a customized quote.
