We all know what it feels like to try to sleep on an uncomfortable bed. Generally, we rate our comfort by the softness-to-firmness level our bodies know to be the right firmness. Our bodies will tell us we are... or are not on the right mattress. Research has given our industry the general guidelines to go by, and we'll take a look at those first.
The comfort of a latex foam mattress is measured by its firmness (soft to firm) and is measured by the latex ILD (Impression Load Deflection) rating. This rating measures how easily the latex mattress will shape to your body and how much support it will provide.
After extensive sleep studies, PlushBeds found that customers surveyed reported the highest customer satisfaction ratings after sleeping on latex mattresses in the medium (side sleepers) ILD range to med-firm (back, stomach sleepers) ILD range.
The difference between our 6", 8" and 10" Natural Bliss models varies, depending on the firmness you choose. Each mattress has its own unique attributes. Whatever your body type or sleep preferences are, we can help you find the bed that will help you sleep better than ever before.
The taller the mattress, the more soft talalay latex is used in the top comfort layer. Our 6-inch model contains a solid 6" natural latex core, yet is still supportively comfortable; our 8-inch model with a luxurious 2-inch comfort layer, and our 10-inch model with a luxurious 6-inch comfort layer (two 2-inch comfort layers).
In our Soft and Medium models, the additional talalay on the 8- and 10-inch models gives these mattresses a softer, plush feel-preferable if you're a side sleeper or prefer a softer mattress. The 6-inch model, on the other hand, is ideal for side sleepers who need a little more support without sacrificing comfort.
In our Medium-Firm and Extra-Firm models, all three thicknesses have a similar feel (taller mattresses will still be supportive) since firmer talalay latex is used in the comfort layer on all three models. Instead of sleep style, body weight becomes the deciding factor when choosing a firm mattress, since the amount of firm latex needed in the comfort layer will depend on the amount of weight pressing against it.
We recommend using the following guide in selecting your medium-firm or extra-firm models:
