Snoring Pillow

Not only is it disturbing to your sleep partner, but snoring can lead to fatigue, moodiness, irritability, reduced ability to focus, and over time, sleep deprivation. Luckily, these days, there are a number of things that you can do to reduce or even eliminate your snoring, including a stop snoring pillow.

What is a snoring pillow?

A snoring pillow is especially designed to eradicate, or at the very minimum, reduce the frequency and severity of snoring episodes. It is an ideal solution for those who want an inexpensive and noninvasive method to help curb their snoring. While there isn’t a ton of research to date about its effectiveness, a 2005 study found that a snoring pillow did offer relief in some people, reports WebMd.

What does a snoring pillow look like?

A snoring pillow is comfy and soft, just like other pillows you’re familiar with, but it has a few differences. The most notable difference is that of the design. Some people say that a snoring pillow resembles a turtle. Snoring pillows have a contoured design, which cradles the head in such a way to create optimal breathing. Some have an adjustable center anti-snore air posture section that you can adjust to best suit you. Others offer vibrating technology that encourages the snorer to change positions. Most weight around two pounds. Snoring pillows range in size, but 10 by 12 by 27 inches is the average size. They typically weigh between two and four pounds. Most are made out of memory foam, and are sold with a pillowcase that is machine washable.

How does a snoring pillow work?

A snoring pillow places your jaw somewhat forward, which helps to keep your airway open. It also promotes side sleeping comfortably. When combined with the best mattress for side sleepers, a snoring pillow can help you — and your bed partner — get a better night’s sleep.

Which snoring pillow should I get?

Keep in mind that you’ll see a number of different types, designs, brands and models of snoring pillows on the market. Some have claims, like the Sona Anti Snore Pillow, to have clinical studies that demonstrate its effectiveness against snoring in addition to an FDA clearance as a medical device for mild sleep apnea. Other snoring pillows include the Brookstone Anti Snore Pillow, The Snore-No-More Pillow and the Contour Anti Snore Pillow. These are not the only anti snore pillows out there, however.

Are there any downsides to a snoring pillow?

Snoring pillows are primarily designed for sleeping on your side. Therefore, if you are a back sleeper or stomach sleeper, it may not work well for you — or at the very least take some getting used to. Some people who use an anti-snoring pillow complain that it hurts their ear.

While a snoring pillow typically cannot be returned because it’s a personal item, for little investment it’s worth trying it out to see if it helps you get a better night’s sleep and awake feeling ready to embark on your day.
