is this comfortable to sleep on every night?

Yes, ours is utilized every night. It has remained comfortable. I put a blanket over the sofa bed bar to keep it from rubbing against the mattress to preserve it but we aren't using wood planks or anything under it and it is very comfortable. I prefer it to the mattress on my bed! I highly recommend it. It is one of my best purchases...we are thankful every night and we have no problem folding up the sofa bed every day so that we can use our sofa!
